Travel Tuesday: “Beep Beep Oink Oink”
The pig taxi. All across Cambodia you can see motorcycles or pickup trucks taking pigs to the market. The Nissan pickup trucks usually hold 16 pigs. (PETA should note that the same vehicle is also used as a “people taxi” and holds a minimum of 24 people. The pigs only ride a comfortable 16!)
An interesting thing about transporting pigs which Cambodian’s have figured out: If you turn a pig over and tie it up, it gives up and quits squealing. They are very easy to transport that way. If the journey is long they will stop and water them down so they do not overheat. Otherwise, final stop is the slaughter house.
This little piggie went to market, this little piggie stayed home…
Beep, beep, oink, oink! My kids like making those sounds!
