My blog mentor, Omar Garcia, started doing a “Wordless Wednesday” blog where he just gives an interesting picture with little or no comment. It sounded interesting to me as I love to take pictures, but I don’t want to just copy my good friends’ ideas. As I contemplated a day where I would give a visual depiction rather than an article, I remembered a special folder of pictures I have which I call “Traveling in Cambodia”. It is pictures which I have taken over the years of very interesting modes of travel which I have seen in Cambodia. So, a “Travel Tuesday” blog is born!
I have been saving these pictures for one day making a pictorial book of Cambodian transport, but I think it would be far more interesting to display the pictures once a week on my blog. Each “Travel Tuesday” I will display another picture with minimal comments. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I saw each of these modes of transport.
The first one is a Cambodian Ambulance:

Cambodian Ambulance: There are few hospitals which can receive patients overnight, so for most sicknesses, a person is given an IV (inter-venous fluid/serum) and sent home. It is very common to see a motorcycle driving down the road with an IV bottle hoisted high. The plastic bag over the bottle is there to keep direct sunlight off the bottle so it does not heat up. The child in this picture probably has Malaria or Dengue fever.

Love the idea of “Travel Tuesday”. One of the coolest things about traveling to places like Cambodia is seeing all of the interesting forms of transportation and the many creative ways that folks come up with to modify vehicles for special purposes. Kudos for this clever idea. I am looking forward to seeing your photos each week.
