The sun drops out of the sky as a burning ball of red fire in the distance. The city of Poipet quickly becomes quite. Dinner finishes and the kids in at the children’s center start their even prayer and worship. What a wonderful time! The sounds of children worshiping Jesus is beautiful.
After the worship everyone brushes their teeth and get ready for sleeping. It is nice as nearly 60 kids quiet down and the leaders return to their quarters to wind down for the evening.
Suddenly, screams and children’s voices break the sound of chirping crickets. The kids quickly run to the leaders and show us what tried to come sleep in the boys dorm! A centipede! But not just any centipede, the biggest one I have ever seen!
The boys dumped it out in front of the leaders and laughed as they screamed (not me though)! They said, “we already cut its head off.” The missing head didn’t stop it from fighting with us for the next 15 minutes though!
Centipedes are very poisonous and a bite to a human will cause swelling and high fever. It can take a few days to recover from a bad centipede bite. My wife was bitten by 3 centipedes in our bed about seven years ago. All she could do was pray. She had no reaction, but she wasn’t surprised. After all she claimed what Jesus promised:
“17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18)
Tonight, the kids had their fun. Playing with a poisonous insect. Now, we are all getting ready for bed again as I reflect on the exciting evening.
Good night everyone! Sweet dreams! Don’t let the GIANT bed bugs bite!
I supose it tasted like chicken
LOL @ Greg’s comment!
