How can what you eat affect ministry? I remember as child being asked to eat dog, durian and blood soup and responding with vile rejection. I remember to this day the face of my hosts when I did so. When Jesus sent out his disciples to do his work and share about the Kingdom of God one of the very first things he told them was “eat and drink whatever they give you” (Luke 10:7). Gulp!
Eating what they give you shows acceptance and it gives honor to the host. I remember how I felt when I offered a friend a large chunk of my precious extra-sharp cheddar cheese and he vomited it out in front of me. I would not want my reaction to food to be the final straw in keeping someone from an eternal destiny with Christ.
During the multiplication of ministry training here in Cambodia our attendees passed my test with flying colors! What do you think you would have done?
