On the Edge of Suicide

After learning about prophecy in January Ang needed to take a child to the hospital who had a medical problem.  They were at the Soviet Hospital in Phnom Penh.  At the hospital, attending to the needs of the child he was there to help, he saw a man who God told him wanted to commit suicide.  God told him this when he went into the bathroom to pray.  The bathroom was the only quiet place in the hospital so each day he would spend an extended time to pray in the filthy place. God told him on one prayer visit in the bathroom, “He wants to kill himself because the doctors just ignore him.  So go and tell him to not die, because Jesus loves him.”  Poo Ang saw a man who he felt in his heart this word from the Lord was about. This older man stayed in the hospital for months and no one wanted to care about him, no doctors treated him. He was sent to the hospital by a NGO (social organization) and so was a charity case and they made no money on him, so no one bothered to treat him also.  This caused the old man to give up hope and just wish to die.  Eventually he refused to eat anything and wanted to die.  He told his family to leave him alone.

He had a disease called “Tenla” which is usually fatal in the lymph nodes.  It is related to cancer and was causing his body to rot away. The doctor only gave him two pills in more than a month in the hospital and he has no idea what they were, but he only knew that he would die.  So he wanted to speed the process of dying, in effect, to commit suicide.

Ang asked to see his infection.  He had a large whole that was rotten in his groin.  Ang asked him to get up and sit on the bed and Ang would pray for him.  He told the man that Jesus would heal him.  He was not healed immediately, but after only one hour, the doctor came to visit the man.  No doctor or nurse had visited him in more than two weeks.  However,  even before the doctor came he gained in strength and energy.  The family came later and they noticed the difference in him immediately.  The family asked what Ang had done and he said “nothing”, but only Jesus had helped him.

The old man confessed that this was not the first time he heard of Jesus and his power. His neighbors are Christians and they tried to witness to him many times, but he always rejected and hated Christians.  Now, he believes in the power of Jesus and now the whole family has come to Christ.  In only three days he was completely healed, but the doctors still gave him no medicine.  Jesus healed him.  From the edge of suicide Jesus brought the man in relationship with him through Ang’s obedience to the word of the Lord.

The older man calls Ang regularly to pray and for encouragement, and he is regularly attending the fellowship which is neighbors are a part of.
